A Legacy of Harmony

The scholarship is named after Marge Gagnon, our devoted treasurer for many years, who passed away in March 2025.

Our scholarship patrons, the Zucca sisters, are a key factor in making this program possible each year. Their love of music began early in life, inspired by their grandfather. Learn more about Paul A. Zucca, a talented musician and teacher.

A statement from Wren Willow Marie MacDonald:

Music & Singing have been irrevocably tied to some of the happiest moments of my life. Music has helped me meet the greatest people I have known, guided me through the hardest of times, and given me a home and a safe harbor wherever I find myself.

I was an anxious kid, but singing never failed to make me feel better, because of this I sang a lot. My mother told me recently that I would sing along with the radio in tune before I was even old enough to talk. It’s always just been a part of me.

It has also helped me feel connected to my father who passed when I was 7 years old. He was very musical, he sang all the time. Especially when my siblings were little. It is something I get from him. I don’t remember him half as well as I wish I could. Singing has made me feel closer to my dad because it is something he loved and shared with me. Even if I can’t remember his voice. I think there is no Greater Gift.

Every experience I have no matter how fleeting, every friend I make and never see again has a lasting effect on me and my life. On who I am and who I find myself growing to be. Music has taught me that life isn’t about endings, isn’t about goodbyes. It’s what you choose to take from the good parts.

I have found a Campfire-Light Warmth in every musical experience I have had, it doesn’t matter where I am.

I am Always Home.
